Door of Many Colors

Fairfield, Idaho

An abandoned house shows its years through worn layers of paint. For each color that is revealed, I imagine there are countless stories to tell of those who lived here, who walked through this doorway hundreds of times and called this beloved place their home. Layer after layer the colorful paint tells the story of new beginnings, new babies, new trends and perhaps favorite colors. Far from town, this country home could have been a shelter from the storms, and a place to raise a family; where the sounds of children laughing once echoed through these walls and traveled joyfully through the adjacent fields filled with warm, summer sunshine.
