The flat Garden (or hiraniwa) located in the heart of the Portland Japanese Garden, was designed to please both the eye and the soul. As a place for quiet reflection, each component of the garden has been strategically positioned. The garden is designed to be viewed from either inside the Pavilion or from the veranda (as shown here), allowing the structure to frame the view.
