Canadian Lynx
Late morning, in northern Montana, this young, female Lynx is on the prowl. Aside from assisting her hunting skills, her enormous feet serve as snowshoes to distribute her weight over the deep, winter snow.
Not nocturnal, but crepuscular – the Lynx is most active during the 3 hours before and after sunrise and sunset. This morning, she hunts for several more minutes before returning to her den, as morning turns to mid-day.
