Cape Disappointment, Washington
A surreal view of the Cape Disappointment Lighthouse at dusk. Cape Disappointment received its name in 1788 from John Meares, who expressed his disappointment in not finding the Columbia River. (The Columbia River meets the Pacific Ocean just on the other side of the cape.) Thankfully, it doesn’t live up to its name when it comes to photography.
This image was taken half an hour after sunset (facing Southeast) the pink glow on the horizon is believed to be a beacon off in the distance.
