Low lying fog is illuminated in purple as the sun begins to rise on a cold, winter morning.
I’ve been wanting to capture this image for a while now (at least since November). Here in the Pacific Northwest we’ve been blessed with so many foggy mornings this winter. Of course, not just any fog will do. Sometimes it’s so think I can’t even see these trees (in the foreground) and other times no fog at all. Finally, after much patience and persistence the elements came together – fog settled into the valleys revealing only the tallest trees in the forest – just as the first rays of sun came over the horizon. The fog, so alive and constantly changing, in a matter of minutes it would reveal and then conceal different trees and ridge lines. These three trees appeared for only a moment before disappearing back into the fog.
